The nominees for this year’s Golden Melody Awards were announced Tuesday, with Singaporean singer-songwriter Tanya Chua hoping for her fourth Best Mandarin Female Singer win.
Chua will compete in the category with Taiwan’s Faith Yang and Jia Jia, Malaysia’s Penny Tai and Hong Kong’s Denise Ho.
The five nominees for Best Mandarin Album are Li Rong-hao’s “Model,” Li Jian’s “Classic 2013 Remake Collections,” Chang Chen-yue’s “I Am Ayal Komod,” Soft Lipa’s “Secrets of Tu Cheng Hsi: Renovate” and Wakin Chau’s “Jiang Hu.”
Local bands ChthoniC, The Chairman, Fire EX., Tizzy Bac, Sodagreen, Funky Brothers and Mixer will vie for the Best Band award.
And the Special Contribution Award will go to late music producer Peng Guo-hua in recognition of his contribution to the island’s music scene.
