Rainfall in Taipei city has set a new May record, seeing the highest rainfall during the month in nearly one hundred years, when the Taipei Observatory was first established.

The Central Weather Bureau says between midnight and 3 P.M. today, Taipei received 193 millimeters of rain, an astonishing amount.

The CWB also says that the accumulated rainfall in the city averages some 230 millimeters in the month of May; this means residents in Taipei saw nearly a whole month’s worth of rain in just one day today.
