The Pyeong-chang 2018 Winter Olympics is scheduled to kick off this Friday and Taiwan has sent a team of four to the Games in South Korea, the most in 16 years.

They include three speed skaters, Huang Yuting, Song Qiyang and Dai Weiling, as well as luger Lian De-an.

They will compete among 3-thousand athletes from at least 92 countries.

The huge event can be generally divided into three main disciplines– snow sports, ice sports, and sliding sports, and runs between Feb. 9th and 25th.

It’s no surprising that Germany, including former East Germany, and Russia share the honor of the highest gold medal tally at the Winter Olympic Games from 1924 to 2014.

Taiwan sports fans can watch live coverage of the Winter Olympic Games on Chung-hwa Telecom’s MOD channels 201 and 202 operated by Elta TV.

Videos of the covered events will also be stored in a special area on the MOD where people can just click in anytime they like to watch a replay.

The opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Games will begin at 6:30 PM on Friday (Feb. 9)on MOD channel 201.
