Directors ruled at this past weekend’s Golden Horse Award Ceremony.

Media reports say the event at Taipei’s National Sun Yat-sen Hall hit an average rating of 5.2 overall, drawing in over 3.8 million viewers.

That’s an increase from last year’s total of 3.6 million people tuning in.

And for these viewers, the highlight of the show was when director Vivian Qu accepted her “Best Director” statue for her film “Angels Wear White”‘, with 1.5 million tuning in to watch.

Out on the red carpet, over 1.5 million people tuned in to watch stars work the line, with Hollywood director and star Jessica Chastain’s appearance turning in the highest viewership numbers, at 857,000 watching.
