Get Ready for the Taipei Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival

The 2016 Taipei Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival, an event that many movie buffs eagerly await every year, is scheduled for April 8th to 17th.

Organizers say this year the festival’s “modern film section” will feature international award-winning works from Thailand, Iceland, Argentina, Italy, Canada, and China, among others.

Rams

One of them is “Rams“, an Icelandic drama film written and directed by Grimur Hakonarson. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival where it won the top prize.

It’s a story about how the relationship between two brothers changed when they faced the crisis of losing their sheep.

Clan

The Clan“, a 2015 Argentine crime film directed by Pablo Trapero that won him a Silver Lion at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival, will also be screened in Taipei.

Anna

The festival’s organizers also recommend “Anna,” a film that won lead Valeria Golino the award for Best Actress at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. In it Golino played a 40-something mother living a life that she didn’t want.

Online ticket sales for the films will start on March 27th at 159 NT per ticket and end on April 7th. Afterwards you can only buy tickets at the two theaters on the same day of the movies you like to watch.
