The 'Nest Man of India'

Have you ever been to Delhi? Delhi is in India. Lots and lots of people live
in Delhi!
你有去過印度的德里嗎？很多人住在那裡。

Many years ago, there were lots of sparrows in Delhi too. Rakesh Khatri gave
food to sparrows. He was a kid then.
德里很久以前有很多麻雀，Rakesh Khatri 小時候常常餵麻雀。

Sparrows are little brown birds. They like to live in cities. But sparrows
are leaving Delhi. They don't have many places to live. People are not making
space for sparrows in the city.
麻雀喜歡在城市裡生活，但是很多都飛走了，因為德里人口增加，留給麻雀的空間也一直縮水。

Rakesh Khatri wants to help sparrows live in Delhi. He has been making nests
for a long time. A nest is a bird's home. Sparrows live in nests. He puts the
nests all over the city. People call him the 'Nest Man of India'.

He makes nests from coconut shells, cotton, or other natural things. He
recycles too. Sometimes he makes nests from old juice boxes.
他會用椰子殼、棉花等等的自然界物品做鳥巢。他也回收，有時候他用舊的果汁盒來做。

Rakesh Khatri has made 250,000 nests! He made them with no help! Now he
teaches students how to make nests too. He has been to 3,500 schools! Now
100,000 students can make nests!
他一個人做了 25 萬個鳥巢！他還拜訪過 3500
間學校，教學生怎麼做鳥巢，已經有十萬個學生學會了這個技巧。

New York City Versus Rats

Hey! Do you hear that? That's the sound of too many rats!

Wild rats are mean! They fight other animals. They eat trash. They run in
very dirty water… which means they carry lots of germs and diseases. They're
dangerous, they can make you very sick. Stay away from wild rats!

New York City has many, many rats. They're everywhere!

The mayor of New York City says that everyone who knows him knows one thing:
he hates rats! Now the mayor wants to fight the rats. He wants them out of

The mayor gave Kathleen Corradi a new job. Her job is to get rid of rats.

Kathleen Corradi has helped nearly 120 schools get rid of rats before. Can

First, Kathleen Corradi is taking away the rats' food. She's getting garbage
trucks to pick up people's trash earlier. Then the rats can't eat it all.

She also wants people to fix all the holes and cracks in their homes. That
stops the rats from getting inside. No food and no homes mean no rats!

Water is Life, Water is Food

Today is World Food Day. This year, it's all about water.

Every living thing on Earth needs water. Animals need it to live. Plants need

water. Fruit and vegetables come from plants. Plants need water too! So
without water, there is no food.

Snails Change Vegetable Farmer's Life

Snails are small animals with a shell. They crawl very slowly. Snails leave
silver lines on the ground. They eat fruit, vegetables, and many other
things. Gardeners and farmers don't like snails.
蝸牛是個很小的動物，牠們吃水果、蔬菜等等，所以園丁跟農夫都不喜歡蝸牛。

But many people around the world like snails. They like to eat them. Some
people pay a lot of money to eat snails! Where are these snails from?
Sometimes they're from gardens. Many are from snail farms!
