Typhoon Danas is hitting Taiwan hard tonight, with heavy wind and rain
spreading across the island.
Work and school are canceled tomorrow (7/7) in Hsinchu City and County,
Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin, Nantou, Chiayi City and County, Tainan,
Kaohsiung, and Pingtung.
In Taoyuan, Luzhu, Dayuan, Xinwu, and Guanyin districts will shut down, but
other areas stay open.
Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Yilan, Hualien, and Kinmen will continue as
normal.
Lienchiang County is not under alert.
The storm’s center was 100 kilometers south of Penghu this evening, moving
northeast with gusts up to 162 kilometers per hour.
Danas may strengthen further as its eye forms close to shore.
Ferry services to offshore islands are also disrupted.
A total of 124 trips on 15 routes are canceled for Monday, including those to
Green Island and Penghu.
Rainfall is expected to shift from the east coast to the southwest by
morning.
Coastal winds will be strong, especially with no mountain range to block them
this time.
Stay indoors, avoid seaside areas, and keep loose objects secure.

Typhoon Danas is now packing winds up to 126 kilometers per hour as it moves
north-northeast just 120 kilometers south of Penghu.
Its storm radius has reached southern Taiwan, triggering land and sea
warnings across the island.
Offices and schools are closed today in much of central and southern Taiwan,
including Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Penghu.
Closures will continue tomorrow in counties like Miaoli, Changhua, Yunlin,
and Nantou.
Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, and Keelung regions are expected to announce by
8 p.m. whether classes and work will be canceled tomorrow.
Heavy rain and strong winds are expected through tomorrow, with Pingtung
under a torrential rain alert.
Kaohsiung and Taitung face extreme rainfall.
All domestic flights are canceled tomorrow morning, and airlines plan to
resume limited service in the afternoon, especially to Kinmen and Penghu.
Coastal waves could reach 6 meters.
Stay away from the shore, secure anything loose outside, and check local
updates as conditions change quickly.

Tropical Storm Danas is moving closer to Taiwan and gaining strength.
As of 11:30 p.m. Saturday, the storm was 330 kilometers southwest of Eluanbi,
with winds up to 90 kilometers per hour.
The Central Weather Administration has issued land warnings for Changhua,
Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Hengchun Peninsula and Penghu.
Sea warnings cover the Taiwan Strait, Bashi Channel and Dongsha Islands.
Heavy rain and strong winds are likely through Sunday, especially in central
and southern Taiwan.
Mountain areas may face landslides, and wave heights could reach over 5
meters along the southwest coast and in Penghu.
Work and classes are suspended on Sunday in Chiayi City, Chiayi County,
Tainan City, Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County.
Penghu County will suspend work and classes starting at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
China Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan have canceled or rescheduled many flights
at Kaohsiung International Airport.
All domestic flights by Uni Air and Mandarin Airlines are canceled Sunday.
Train services will run as normal, but may slow down in bad weather.
Authorities warn that the storm may intensify and expand.
The public is advised to stay clear of the coast and avoid outdoor activities
near the sea.
