Lots of people around the world don't have enough food to eat.
世界上還有很多人是吃不飽的
That's really sad, right? So many people are hungry … and then they get sick
and have a sad life! 很多人沒有東西吃,肚子餓 ,生病還過著悲慘生活
They need more food!
Hmm… where can we get more food? Where does food come from?
Well, we can grow more food … we can grow more vegetables like carrots and
tomatoes ... and we can get more animals for food … like more chickens …
more cows and more pigs.我們要生產更多的蔬菜和肉類
But there's a problem! Vegetables and chickens and cows and pigs need space
… and we don't have much space! 空間都不夠啊
Bugs are small! They don't need much space. And they are healthy. Bugs are
good for you.
You can cook the bugs … and make a bug hamburger!
Bugs actually taste good. Some bugs even taste sweet!
Cool, yeah? Sweet bugs!
Eating bugs is a good idea that can help people. 可以幫助人類.
Wow! Maybe I'm ready to try a bug burger! How about you? Bugs for lunch?

Hi, would you like to have a bug sandwich for lunch?

1) Sandwich 三明治。A sandwich is two pieces of bread with things like meat,
cheese and tomatoes in between 三明治就是兩片麵包，中間夾著肉片，起司和番茄。
2) Chicken 雞，所以營養好喝的雞湯就是chicken soup. Chicken soup is good for
you when you're sick生病時喝一點雞湯對你有好處。

The Vegetarian City

Do you know anybody who doesn't eat meat? Or maybe you don't eat meat.
你認識吃素的人嗎? 還是你自己就不吃肉？

A person who doesn't eat meat is a vegetarian.

Many restaurants have vegetarian dishes. There are also some restaurants that
only serve vegetarian dishes.
很多餐廳提供蔬食，也有素菜餐廳。

But did you know there's also a whole city that's vegetarian?
但是你知道有個吃素的城市嗎？

A whole city that only serves vegetarian dishes! No meat at all! Wow!

The city is in India and it's called Varanasi.
這個城市在印度，名叫瓦拉納西。

Varanasi is a very special place. It's one of the oldest cities in the whole
world.
它是全世界最古老的城市之一。

People have lived there for thousands of years and people still live there
now!

It's also where the oldest religion in the world Hinduism started!
世界最古老的印度教，也是從這裡開始。

Many people visit Varanasi because of its history. So restaurants used to
serve dishes with meat to the visitors.

But many of the people who live in Varanasi do not eat meat. Then a couple of
years ago they made it a rule not to serve or eat meat in their city anymore.
Now it's a vegetarian city! It's another reason why Varanasi really is a

Do you like soy milk?

I do!

I drink soy milk almost every morning!
我喜歡豆漿，幾乎每天早上都會喝。

But, there are now lots of other kinds of milk, too!

There is oat milk … and almond milk … but here's a new one: potato milk!
現在有燕麥奶、杏仁奶，甚至還有馬鈴薯奶！

Really?? Potato milk?

Sounds weird, right?

But people who have tried it say it is delicious!

Potato milk doesn't have as much protein as soy milk or almond milk … but
potatoes are very easy to grow and don't need much water or land.

It's what we call a "sustainable" product … it means you don't need to use
so much energy or water or land to get it.

people are looking for sustainable food ideas.

There are now almost 8 billion people living on this earth!

Chicken Restaurant Tries Plant-Based Chicken

Hi there! Excuse me; I was just eating some chicken nuggets.

A lot of restaurants sell fried chicken nuggets... it's a very popular food!
很多餐廳都有賣雞塊。

But these days, lots of people don't want to eat meat. So one fried chicken
restaurant tried something different. They made special chicken nuggets.
現在有很多人不吃肉，所以有炸雞餐廳做了特別的雞塊。

They took the chicken out of the nuggets. What?! That's right. They made
chicken nuggets without chicken. Instead, they used plant-based ingredients.
I think it's like tofu. But, I don't know if it is tofu for sure, because the
chicken restaurant keeps the exact ingredients secret. They just say the
nuggets are made from plants, and not animals.
這個餐廳不用雞肉，而是用植物類的食材來做雞塊。

People who ate the nuggets said they tasted similar to regular chicken
nuggets. They also said they were similar to regular nuggets in texture.
大家說這種雞塊的口感跟味道跟一般的雞塊差不多。

But this was only a trial. The restaurant wanted to see if people like them.
Maybe they will try it again sometime. Maybe other restaurants will try this,
too.

Taiwan University Makes 3D-Printed Steak

Do you guys like steak? Lots of people love it. They even love hearing the
sound of steak cooking in a frying pan.
你們喜歡吃牛排嗎？很多人喜歡，他們甚至喜歡煎牛排的聲音。

You know that steak comes from cows, right?

But a university in Taiwan made a steak without a cow. How did they do that?
They used a printer.
台灣的一所大學用印表機做出了牛排。

Well, not that kind of printer. They used a 3D printer. 3D printers are cool.
You can make lots of things with them, like toys and even houses!
他們用的是3D印表機，這種印表機還可做出玩具，甚至是做房子！

A university in Taiwan used a 3D printer to make steaks. They put the eggs
and peas and other ingredients into the 3D printer. Then, the printer made
the steaks.
這所大學把雞蛋、豌豆，還有其他食材放進3D印表機裡面，牛排就做出來了。

So now, no cow was needed at all. That makes the steak vegetarian. I think
that's great.

The university can also change the steak's texture. They can make the steak
harder. Or, they can make it softer.
牛排的口感也可以改變，讓它更硬或是更軟。

If the texture is hard, it's harder to chew. If the texture is soft, it is
easier to chew. That is good for older people. Some older people have trouble
chewing. They need to chew soft food.

I'm glad the university in Taiwan made steaks with a 3D printer! What a great
idea! I just hope it tastes as good as the real thing!
