One year after the biggest mistake in Oscars history where La La Land was wrongly named the Best Picture winner, viewers are expecting to see some biting political satire during the Academy Awards ceremony this time around.

Slated for Monday morning Taipei time, the ceremony will be hosted by American TV talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, a host known for his outspokenness.

Just 2 days ago Kimmel said in an interview that it’s “almost necessary” for comedians to address “serious subjects” in politics.

Of this year’s nominees, The Shape of Water leads the race with 13 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress in a Leading Role.

It’s followed by Dunkirk with 8 nominations.

Movie buffs here in Taiwan can tune in to TTV’s main channel or HBO or live stream the Oscars at abc.com for the ceremony starting 7:30 AM on March 5.

The red-carpet runs from 7:30 to 9, while the ceremony itself starts at 9 AM.
