Hollywood star Tom Cruise arrived in Taiwan early this morning to promote his latest film “The Mummy.”

Local TV news footage shows him appearing at Taipei Songshan Airport with a broad smile on his face and waving to the waiting media and fans.

The 54-year-old superstar will stay in Taiwan for only one night at the Mandarin Oriental in Taipei and attend the movie premier at the Miramar Cinemas at 6:30 p.m tomorrow.

Taiwan is the last stop of the movie’s global promotion tour. Cruise is scheduled to leave the country after the premiere ends.

Meanwhile he confirmed yesterday that the long-discussed sequel to “Top Gun” is a sure thing and should start shooting soon.

The actor said filming will likely begin within the next year, adding “it’s definitely happening.”
