Two main countdown parties will be hosted in Kaohsiung — one at Dream Mall and the other at E-Da World.

Pop-rock band Magic Power and Latin rap rock band Boxing will be among the celebrities to perform at Dream Mall, while the E-Da World party will feature a symphony concert and an 888-second firework show.

The Kaohsiung city government, meanwhile, said that it will not fund a countdown party this year and will use the money saved to print 300,000 calendars for its citizens.

Elsewhere in southern Taiwan, celebrations will take place at the square in front of the Taiwan High Speed Rail Tainan Station. Hip hop band Da Mouth and girl group Popu Lady are scheduled to perform there.
