The Fair Trade Commission says the number of convenience stores here in Taiwan rose again in 2014 as operators broadened their product lines and service coverage.
According to commission, a of the end of 2014, the number of outlets run by Taiwan’s five major convenience store chains rose 1.4-per cent from the previous year to 10,154.
More than 70-per cent of the convenience stores are located in Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Gaoxiong.
The five major convenience store chains are 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, Circle K and Million – which is run by the state-owned Taiwan Sugar Corporation.
