The Taipei Mass Wedding, which is held  twice a year in Taipei, has now opened to same-sex couples.

The mass wedding will take place on October 24th and registration will be open from August 24th to 28th.

In June, the Taipei City government began to allow same-sex couples to register their marriages. So far, eleven couples have completed their registrations.

Meanwhile, the city announced that it will be sending relevant documents to the Ministry of the Interior to seek a constitutional interpretation on whether Taiwan’s Civil Code violates the Constitution by restricting marriage to heterosexual couples.
