A team of nine students from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology won first prize and a cash award of US$10,000 at the IEEE 2015 International Future Energy Challenge.

The Taiwanese team says contestants were required to present a constant current charger with a charging efficiency of over 90 percent.

A team representative says their team won because the device it developed was not just able to charge stably, but also maintained a charging process that is safe and reduces the depreciation rate.

The IFEC is an international student competition for innovation, conservation and effective use of electrical energy, which is open to college and university student teams from recognized engineering programs in any location.
