Two Asian small-clawed otter have been added to otter enclosure at the Taipei Zoo, as companions to the zoo’s resident female otter.

The Asian small-clawed otter is the smallest otter species in the world, and lives in swamps and wetlands throughout Asia.

Zoo keepers say 6-year old Nina has been lonely since her 14-year-old companion died, and her species usually forms family groups of 4 to 12 members in the wild.

The two newcomers, a male and a female, will bring the number of Asian small-clawed otters at the zoo to 3.
