A new traffic index has listed the traffic in Taipei among the world’s worst, topping all major cities in China.

According to the index released by navigation products provider TomTom, Taiwan ranked 11th in congestion among 146 major cities around the world.

The most congested cities in the world were Istanbul, Mexico City, and Rio de Janeiro respectively.

Taipei came in as slightly less congested than Los Angeles, and worse than Chongqing.

The index measures travel times during thewhole day and during peak periods and compares these with measured travel times during non-congested periods.
