Taiwan director Yee Chih-yen’s 2014 movie “Meeting Dr. Sun” won both the Best Picture and the Audience Awards at the Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan Sunday.

The jury president of the 10th Osaka Asian Film Festival, said the panel had chosen “Meeting Dr. Sun” for the Best Picture because of the film’s terse yet expressive script that vividly portrays the unique aspects of Taiwan’s society, politics and the daily lives of its people

The president also commended the stellar performance by the cast of young actors starring the film.

“Meeting Dr. Sun” won the Best Original Screenplay Award at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival last year.
