The Ministry of Foreign Affairs this week launched its first electronic book, a publication that gives an overview of Taiwan’s attributes and development.

“Taiwan A to Z: Introduction for Young Adults” has 26 sections that cover topics ranging from food, education and entertainment to technology and geology.

One of the sections is devoted to the thousands of 24-hour convenience stores around the island, and another is about Taiwan’s night markets.

The e-book, published in English, also provides a brief guide to the country’s political, diplomatic, economic, social, and cultural development.

At the book launch, Vice Foreign Minister Vanessa Shih said the articles in the e-book were the winning entries in a competition that was open to high school students around Taiwan.

The ministry sought to obtain articles that were written from the perspective of young adults because the e-book is intended for young adults from abroad who wish to learn more about Taiwan, Shih said.

The book is available for free download from App Store and Google Play.

The ministry plans to launch other versions of the book in German, French, Spanish and languages of Southeast Asia.
