Episode Description

Gordon Teng (Teng Hung-chi / 鄧鴻吉) is often referred to by Taiwan’s media as Taiwan’s Thomas Edison, with good reason too. In the last thirty years he has developed more than 300 patented inventions, winning numerous awards for his work along the way.

In fact, just last month he picked up a trophy from the World Invention Intellectual Property Association. During his acceptance speech he said he wants to see Taiwan shift its focus from manufacturing to design and invention.

On this episode we pick the inventor’s brains to learn a little bit more about how he sees the role of invention, innovation and creativity in Taiwan’s future.

ICRT’s Eric Gao helps out with dubbing for this interview.
