Chinese director Diao Yinan’s thriller “Black Coal, Thin Ice” leads the pack for this year’s Golden Horse Awards, with eight nominations, including best feature film.

The film, about a series of murders that are all linked to a mysterious woman played by Taiwan’s Gwei Lunmei, also garnered nominations for best director, best lead actor, best lead actress, best original screenplay, best cinematography, best art direction and best editing

The other nominees in the best feature film category are Chinese actor and first-time director Chen Jianbin’s “A Fool,” Hong Kong director Ann Hui’s “The Golden Era,” Taiwan director Umin Boya’s debut film “Kano” and Chinese director Lou Ye’s “Blind Massage.”

Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year was awarded to veteran producer Jimmy Huang.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to 86-year-old Taiwan actor Tian Feng, who has appeared in numerous films in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The 51st Golden Horse Awards ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 22nd in Taipei, while the film festival will open Nov. 6th.
