Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture has been working with a New York museum to screen films by Taiwan director Hou Hsiaohsien, starting today.

The Museum of the Moving Image in New York will screen 18 films directed by Hou, and five others that he either acted in, wrote the screenplay for, or produced.

The international touring retrospective, titled” Also like Life: The Films of Hou Hsiao-hsien,” will run until Oct. 17th.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the exhibition includes Hou’s acclaimed feature films such as “Dust in the Wind” (1986), “A City of Sadness” (1989), “The Puppetmaster” (1993), “Goodbye South, Goodbye” (1996), “Flowers of Shanghai” (1998) and “Three Times” (2005).

The event has been jointly organized by the ministry, the Taipei Cultural Center in New York, Bard College, and the Museum of the Moving Image
