Let's pretend… It is 50,000 years ago. You are in Europe. You are a hunter!

You are looking for food. You want to catch a deer. You need meat for your
family.

Well, some arrowheads in Europe are older than 50,000 years old!

That was a long time ago! But wait! Scientists also think bows and arrows are
even older. People used them in Africa first!

Scientists think people from Africa took bows and arrows to Europe.
科學家認為弓箭在更早以前就有了，是非洲人先開始用，再帶到歐洲去的。

And yes, people used bows and arrows to fight too. All over the world, they
used bows and arrows for hundreds and hundreds of years… until there were
guns.

People Give Teddy Bears to Kids in Turkey

Hi students! Do you have a teddy bear? Teddy bears are really cute.

Maybe you don't have a teddy bear. Maybe you have a stuffed animal like a
rabbit or dog. Maybe it makes a sound when you touch it.

Teddy bears and other stuffed animals make kids feel happy. They make kids
feel safe, too.

There is a country named Turkey. In February, many people went to a soccer
game there. These people did something very, very nice.

They threw teddy bears and other stuffed animals onto the soccer field. They
also threw toys on the field. There were so many! It looked like it was
raining teddy bears and toys.
今年二月，在土耳其的一場足球比賽，好多人把泰迪熊跟動物玩偶丟到球場上，好像在下娃娃雨一樣！

Why did people do that? They did it to help kids in Turkey. The teddy bears
and other toys were given to many kids.

Why did these kids get teddy bears and toys? There was a very big earthquake
in Turkey on February 6th. Many people died. Many homes were destroyed too.

This made many kids feel sad. The stuffed animals made these kids feel a
little happy. That is so nice!

One girl spelled Taiwan, and… she won a spelling bee!

What's a spelling bee? It's a contest in American schools. Many students like
it. Winners can go to state and national spelling bees.

In this contest, students try to spell words. They say the letters. But some
English words are hard to spell.

Idaho. Kayla is a very good speller. But she didn't think she would win.

Taiwan Ranked Happiest Country in East Asia

Narrator: Good morning! That woman is so happy! Hmmm... How happy is everyone
in Taiwan?

There is a big group of countries. It is called the United Nations. Some
people call the United Nations "the UN".
United Nations 聯合國，它是一個由很多國家組成的組織，英文縮寫是 "UN"。

The UN makes a list. It shows how happy countries are. This list is the
"World Happiness Report".

The UN makes the list every year. It takes a long time. The list is not easy
to make. The UN has to be fair.

Man Gets Degree 52 Years After Beginning

Yay! I'm finished studying! I went to college. I studied for two years. I got
a degree in cooking! My degree shows I can cook well.
唸了兩年，我終於從廚藝學校畢業了！

Some people go to college or university. They want a degree. A degree shows
they studied something. Some degrees take two years. Some take four or five
years. But guess what? One man's degree took fifty-two years! That's a very
long time!

Nick wanted a Ph.D. A Ph.D is one of the highest degrees. Ph.D. students
