Stress Makes Monkeys Lose Hair

Hey, students! Do you guys ever feel stress? Lots of things can make people
feel stress. For example, loud noises make me feel stress.

Did you know that monkeys also feel stress?
你知道猴子也會有壓力嗎？

Today, I'm going to talk about some monkeys in Kaohsiung. People noticed that
these monkeys are losing hair. That's right - they are going bald!
有人發現，高雄的猴子在掉毛，正在慢慢變禿！

At first, scientists thought some disease was making these monkeys lose their
hair. But they found out later that it wasn't because of a disease. It was
because of stress. Poor monkeys!
科學家一開始以為他們生病了，但是後來發現是因為壓力！

Why are these monkeys feeling so much stress? It is too crowded.

There are too many monkeys there because people were feeding them a lot. More
monkeys came because of the food.
因為人們餵猴子吃東西，所以越來越多猴子到那裡。

But then the Kaohsiung government told people not to feed the monkeys. So,
the monkeys don't have as much food to eat anymore. Guess what? That also
makes the monkeys feel even more stress.
高雄市政府希望大家不要再餵猴子了，但是食物不夠讓猴子更有壓力了。

I really feel sorry for these monkeys. There are too many monkeys where they
live. And, there is not enough food for them. That's why they feel stress.
And that's why they are going bald. I hope they feel better soon!

Purple Tomatoes are the New Designer Fruit

Name some fruits and vegetables that are the color purple!

Well, there are grapes, eggplants… And I've also seen some purple carrots…
But have you ever seen a purple tomato?

A very smart farmer in the U.S. invented a purple tomato. This farmer did
something special during the process of growing tomatoes, and ended up
inventing a new kind of tomato! A purple tomato!

delicious as regular red tomatoes.

Wild Meat You Can Eat

Would you like to try a tiger steak? How about a lion burger? Or maybe you'd
like a yummy bowl of elephant meat noodles!

Rubber Ducks Race Through Chicago

Hi there! Today is the International Day of Charity.
今天是國際慈善日！

Charity is when people do things to help the causes they care about. Maybe
you want to look after sick people, or help stop global warming, or help save
animals…

Good causes around the world need all kinds of charity. Some people need help
making money, to pay for things that help people. This is called
"fundraising".

Last month there was a big charity fundraising event in the USA, called the
"Chicago Ducky Derby"!

lives in England.
