Pop diva Amei has announced a series of concerts in Kaohsiung, after her application to perform at the Taipei Arena was rejected.

As part of her world tour, the 44-year-old star will play 6 dates at the Kaohsiung Arena, on August 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th.

“Utopia 2.0” kicked off December last year in Shanghai, with the singer performing a song from each of her 16 albums, to celebrate her 20 years in the business.

The redesigned stage, costumes and rearranged songs reportedly cost $50-million NT.

Amei is rumoured to be on the “blacklist” at the Taipei Arena, after her April 2015 concert at the venue resulted in nearby residents filing noise complaints, especially over the pop-rock song “Three Days Three Nights”.

That song is reported to be the reason the venue managers set up a “no collective jumping” rule for renting the performance space.
