Taipei City Zoo koala Empress Nicole

The Taipei City Zoo is advising visitors to the koala enclosure to keep their voices down, as two new born koalas are being nursed by their mothers.

Zoo staff discovered the two joeys in the pouches of 7-year-old Empress and 3-year-old Nicole in early October.

According to the zoo, the newborns have not yet grown large enough to venture outside their pouches and are each equivalent to the size a 10 N-T dollar coin.

There are a total of 13 koalas – seven female and six males – in the zoo, not including the two newborns.
