The Taipei Zoo will see more than just its resident animals running wild this weekend, for the New Balance Happy Zoo Run.

The run, now in its sixth year, offers the unique experience of seeing zoo animals early in the morning, before the zoo usually opens to the public.

This Sunday, the 4km run will begin at 7:30am, while the more challenging 10km will begin at 6:40am.

Before heading to the starting line, participants can get their face painted as animals at face-painting stations before the start of the run.

Organizers say they have prepared surprises along the routes of both runs, including light and sound tunnels, and animal sound effects.

The event will wrap up with an outdoor concert, featuring singer and songwriter Dawen Wang, and ICRT’s own DJ Terry will be running as well.
