A Taiwanese film director’s work is racking up accolades at the Cannes Film Festival.

French film critics expressed their admiration for Taiwan film director Hou Xiaoxien’s latest work, “The Assassin”.

The film is one of the 19 movies taking part in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival, which runs until May 24th.

A French language film magazine chose Hou’s film as one of its favorites to win the top prize.

Other writers have said that the most anticipated event this year is Hou’s return to Cannes with his new work.
