The all-female Japanese musical theater troupe “Takarazuka Revue” will visit Taiwan for a second time in August, for a series of performances.

The troupe, known for its lavish costumes and set designs, is scheduled to stage 14 performances at the National Theater in Taipei Aug. 8th to 16th.

Representatives say they will perform two productions — the group’s classic “The Rose of Versailles” and the “Takarazuka Fantasia”, and may incorporate Taiwan pop music into the shows.

The group first performed in Taiwan in April 2013, as a gesture to thank Taiwan for its post-disaster assistance in the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011 in northeastern Japan.

The series of performances drew a total of 18 000 people.
