Taiwan’s Tourism Bureau has announced a number of exciting events that are taking place across the island from December 31, 2014 to January 1, 2015.

An ideal place to watch the last sunset of the year would be the salt fields in the Southwest Coast Scenic Area, the bureau said.  Black-bellied terns soar in flocks across the sky, and while the sun sets on 2014, the lively sounds of The Ten Drum Art Percussion Group (謝十擊鼓樂團) will bring you closer to the New Year.

If you’re planning on staying awake to welcome in the New Year, then you could head down to Greater Taichung’s Lishan District (梨山) for some aboriginal dance performances and delicious, traditional food.

Traveling this holiday may seem a bit of a chore, that’s why New Taipei City’s Fulong Beach would be a great place to celebrate.

The bureau suggested taking a special Taiwan Railways Administration service to get there in time for a morning concert, on the beach, to welcome in the New Year.

This New Years, you don’t have to go anywhere. Simply enjoy the display from the New Year’s Eve Countdown Ceremony.

A concert before the world-renowned Taipei 101 Fireworks display will showcase some of the top entertainment talent from Taiwan, including Dream Girls, Wilber Pan, William Wei, SHE, Rainie Yang, The Chairman, and more! Hosted by Pauline Lan, Haojiao Xianqi, and Janet.
