Chris Gardner, the real life entrepreneur, stockbroker and motivational speaker portrayed by Will Smith in the film The Pursuit of Happyness, will be speaking in Taipei this Saturday.

Success Resources Taiwan, the organizer of the event, says Gardner will touch on the true story behind his memoir of the same name, which details his struggles with being homeless while raising a toddler son and his journey to eventually found his own multi-million dollar brokerage firm.

According to organizers, Gardner will also teach attendees to overcome challenges, turn a new leaf and discover what happiness means for each individual.

Gardner’s best-selling memoir was published in 2006, and it was adapted into a major motion picture the same year. The film stars Hollywood superstar Will Smith as Gardner, while Smith’s son Jaden Smith makes his film debut as Gardner’s son, Christopher Jr.

The film received positive reviews upon release, earning Will Smith an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

The event will be held on Saturday December 13 from 2 to 5 pm at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall.

General admission and VIP tickets are still available for the event, and attendees are encouraged to submit their questions for Gardner on the organizer’s Facebook page.

Organizers say Gardner will answer these questions in a 30 minute Q&A session after the speech, and there will be a meet and greet for VIP and VVIP ticket holders.
