A group of Israeli musicians will be featured at this year’s Daniel Pearl memorial concert in Taipei later this month to commemorate late Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was captured and beheaded in Pakistan while on assignment in 2002.

Several musicians on the Idan Raichel Project, initiated by Israeli musician Idan Raichel, will perform at the memorial concert slated for Sept. 27th at the Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park.

Israel’s representative office in Taiwan says the event would be their first performance in Taiwan.

The collective project, launched by Pearl’s family and friends in 2002, brings together musicians and singers from dozens of countries, in a move to embrace multiculturalism and a message of hope and tolerance.

The annual event has grown to include more than 11 000 performances in 129 countries.
