Several thousand Indonesian workers attended events in Taipei yesterday as they celebrated the end of Ramadan.

Organized by the Taipei City Foreign and Disabled Labor Office, one event was held at Chiang Kaishek Memorial Hall and a similar celebration was held at the 228 Peace Memorial Park.

Popular Indonesian singer Inul Daratista (pictured above) performed at the Chiang Kaishek Memorial Hall event.

The Taipei City Foreign and Disabled Labor Office called on ROC nationals who employ overseas workers to respect different religions and religious practices, and allow Muslims to celebrate the conclusion of Ramadan.

Speaking to reporters, the head of the city’s Department of Labor said the events were part of government efforts to recognize foreign laborers and to allow them to celebrate their holidays here in Taiwan.
