Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport has been named the 18th best airport worldwide in the World Airport Awards – up six places from last year.

It was the airport’s best performance in the annual awards, following its rankings of 24th and 29th in the past two years, respectively.

According to the airport operators, the improved ranking is attributed to the completed renovation of Terminal 1 and improvements to restrooms.

The airport ranked No. 10 in Asia and No. 4 among airports that handle 30 to 40 million passengers annually.

In terms of service, the Taoyuan airport received a global rating of 10th for security processing, third for immigration clearance, and ninth in the categories of luggage delivery and transit convenience.

Among Asian airports, it was rated the sixth-best in terms of overall staff service.
