Lucy, a blockbuster film that was filmed in Taipei, will be hitting theaters in Taiwan August 22.

The movie is directed by French director Luc Besson, and it stars Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman.

Many locals here in Taipei might remember last year when they spotted Johansson filming in many of Taipei’s most distinguished areas such as Xinyi District, Taipei 101 and Taoyuan International Airport.

This is projected to be a highly anticipated film for Taiwan moviegoers since Taipei is the backdrop to a large portion of this film.

The public first saw many of these scenes when the movie trailer was released back in April.

Besson himself is set to visit Taiwan to promote the film on August 18th and 19th, a few days before it is released, and there is a high probability that Johansson will also make an appearance. Besson is expected to host many events around Taiwan to promote the movie.

Taiwanese movie stars Ken Lin (阿Ken) and Xing Feng (邢峰) are also featured in this film playing taxi drivers in Taipei City.

Apart from Taipei, Lucy was also shot in Paris and New York City.
