Fans of modern and contemporary art should be excited to hear that the Taipei Biennial 2014 will begin this Saturday at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and throughout the city.

The exhibition this year is curated by French art critic Nicolas Bourriaud, with the theme of “Art and Its New Ecosystem: A Global Set of Relations”.

The show has been staged every two years since 1992, and will examine how art interprets the human impact on the environment and the network between living and non-living things on earth.

This year’s exhibition will feature works by 51 Taiwan and international artists and groups, and visitors can also check out film screenings, live performances, talks, readings, conferences, and other special events.

Participating artists of note include up-and-comers Camille Henrot, and Ian Cheng, as well as established figures such as Haegue Yang and Henrik Oleson.

The Taipei Biennial 2014 will last until January 4st, 2015.
