Many people who can't hear use "sign language". 聽不見的人，會用手語來溝通。

Sign language uses hand signs to mean different things. But people who can't
hear also need to see people's mouths.

Our lips and our mouths help show our feelings… and sometimes you can see
what a person is saying even if you can't hear it.

Many people who can't hear watch people's mouths, because sign language
sometimes isn't enough to understand feelings!
有時候手語無法完全表達情緒，還需要讀唇語才行。

But here's the problem: Masks! Do you wear a mask every day? I do. They help
protect us from Covid-19.

But with a mask, no one can see your mouth~! How can someone who can't hear
see a mouth behind a mask?
因為疫情需要戴口罩，這些聽不到的人看不到嘴巴怎麼辦？

Well, some very smart Taiwanese people worked together and have now invented
a mask that lets you see the mouth!

Wait! You mean a hole in the mask? That's not safe!

(laughs) No, no, no... there is a piece of see-through plastic that covers
the mouth area...
台灣有人在口罩的嘴巴位置挖洞，然後裝透明塑膠片做了看得見嘴的透明口罩。

Because it's see-through, people who can't hear can still see the movements
of other people's mouths!

Isn't that a great idea? Now people who can't hear will be able to be safe

Bubble Concert

Oh, I miss going to concerts. I love seeing bands and singers perform on
stage. And I love hearing live music! 我很喜歡去看演唱會。

But because of the coronavirus many concerts all around the world have been
canceled. 因為疫情，很多表演都被取消了。

That's because there are usually lots of people close together at concerts
and the virus could pass from person to person… and we don't want that!

But what if there was a way we could go to concerts safely?
沒有方法可以安全地看音樂會嗎？

In the USA one band had a pretty good idea. They said "Hey, let's have a
bubble concert!" 在美國，有一個樂團提議做泡泡演唱會！

Each of the band members and each person in the audience got into bubbles!
Pretty safe, right? 每個人都要在泡泡裡，包括樂團，才開始表演喔！

But there are a few problems, like, would the music still sound good inside a
bubble? What if you need the bathroom? And won't it get hot in that bubble?

Well, they thought of that! Each bubble had a speaker for the music, a bottle
of water, a fan, a towel, and two signs.

One sign said "Hot in here!" and the other sign said "I gotta go pee!" If
anyone held up a sign, a worker came to help them out. 一個牌子寫著

No Need to Wash Your Socks?

Do you change your socks every day? Of course, right?! We need to wash them!
If you don't wash your socks … phew… they get really stinky!
襪子要常常洗，要不然會臭。

But the bad smell is only part of the problem.

Stinky socks mean they are covered in bacteria … if you don't wash away bad
bacteria, you can get sick!

That's why your mom and dad are always telling you: "Brush your teeth!!
…Take a shower!! ….Pick up your dirty clothes!!" We need to wash away bad

Making Movies in Space

I love movies about outer space!

Sometimes the movies show spaceships shooting lasers... pew-pew-pew! Or
sometimes they are about real astronauts going to space.

There is no gravity in space, so you float! 會飄浮是因為沒有地心引力。

In movies about space, they sometimes show people floating around… but of
course, the movie was made here on Earth.

Movie companies use special effects to make it look like the people are in
space.

Vaccine Explainer for Kids

I don't like getting a shot. The needle always hurts a little … it's not
super painful … but it's not fun.

But...I know, sometimes getting a shot is good for me. Soon, there will be a
shot for COVID-19. It's called a "vaccine."
