A young superhero is swinging into Taiwan, and raking in millions in the first week.

Over the weekend, the top movie in Taipei is ” Spider-Man: Homecoming,” which made $1.1 million U-S dollars in ticket sales.

Despite showing for just a week so far, the latest box office update shows that the total gross of the new Spider-Man movie has reached up to $1.64 million.

“Homecoming” starring Tom Holland is about how young Peter Parker learns to embrace his newfound identity as a superhero while living as a normal teenager after his experience with the Avengers.

The young hero is not only struggling to find balance between the two identities, but also trying to protect his loved ones by fighting the evil Vulture.

Last week’s top film, “Despicable Me 3,” dropped to second with $29 million over the weekend.

Transformers: The Last Knight” also dropped to third place this week after already being released for 3 weeks.

Coming up Thursday, July 13th, “War for the Planet of the Apes,” the third installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot series, is ready to show the audience that the apes are unbeatable when it comes to war with human.
