The Taipei City government is proposing a coding system for metro stations – and it is expected to be implemented before the 2017 Summer Universiade.
The proposed coding system has been posted on one of the city government’s Facebook pages for a two-month public consultation.
According to the proposed rules, each station will be coded with the color of the metro line and a number.
The number of each station will increase from south to north and from west to east.
Taipei Mayor Ko Wenje promised to introduce a coding system for stations, after city councilors claimed foreigners are often confused by the station names in Chinese and English.
The city government said it plans to introduce the new coding system before the Summer Universiade, which will be held in Taipei in August of 2017.
