Taiwan cold weather front air mass

Residents in the north will finally get a taste of winter later this week as the first cold air mass of the season arrives.

The Central Weather Bureau says mercury along northern coastal areas is expected to drop to 13 degrees Celsius from Thursday night till Friday morning, and in Taipei city, the lows can drop to 14 degrees.

Forecasters say weather pattern will turn wet and chilly starting Wednesday in the north.

The good news is that rain should gradually let up on Thursday and skies would clear up on Friday.

The C-W-B says the coldest periods of time would be Friday and Saturday morning. Temperatures are expected to go back up fast during daytime on Saturday.

The central and southern areas of Taiwan won’t be affected as much by the cold air mass, according to forecasters, with low temps there remaining around 17 or 18 degrees.
