Taipei 101 has been named one of the eight most beautiful skyscrapers in the world by news network BBC.
In a report posted on its website Oct. 9, BBC said that Taipei 101 is not only one of the most beautiful highrises in the world but also one of the safest skyscrapers on the globe.
“Designed to withstand the harshest of weather conditions and the possibility of natural disasters, Taipei 101 is regarded as one of the safest skyscrapers ever built,” the BBC said in the report.
“Its design is also rich in symbolism, with its 101 floors representing renewal and new beginnings,” the British media outlet added.
The BBC noted that Taipei 101 was the highest building in the world until the inauguration of the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai in 2010.
In response to the BBC report, Taipei 101 authorities said they were delighted by the recognition, as it allows the world to have a better understanding of Taiwan’s attractions.
The other seven skyscrapers on the BBC list are the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the main building of the Moscow State University in Moscow, Turning Torso in Malmö, Sweden, the John Hancock Center in Chicago, the Shard in London, the Chrysler Building in New York, and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
