A township office in the central county of  Nantou announced  its plan Wednesday to recruit volunteers to help carry out surveys and take care of trees in the township during summer.

Organizers say those interested in the project are required to join a three-day training camp from June 24-26 to learn how to care for trees.

They say the township office will offer transportation and meal subsidy of NT$300 per day to the volunteers.

In addition to the volunteer program, Nantou County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen say his county is also mulling closing one traffic lane on weekends, so that it could be used as a bike and pedestrian lane.
