Those who are interested in a taste of farm life should head out to New Taipei’s Shuangxi District, where urban residents can get their hands dirty growing organic produce.

Shuangxi District officials says eight qualified organic farmers in the area have set up 5 to 6 hectares of land for rent, where city-dwellers can grow their own organic vegetables, while getting some fresh air and exercise.

And the Shuangxi District Office and local farmers have also opened up a 30 ping organic grove for city residents to try their hand at growing seasonal vegetables.

The grove comes with gardening tools, and is free for renters during the first month.

Local farmers are also available to assist with watering, fertilizing and weeding during workdays for a monthly fee.
