An exhibition that tells the history of the world through 100 sets of objects is set to open at the National Palace Museum in Taipei this weekend to celebrate the museum’s 90th anniversary.

“A History of the World in 100 Objects” began as a radio series produced by BBC Radio 4 and the British Museum in 2010.

Its success has led to a forthcoming book and a world tour of an exhibition featuring artifacts from the series that date from 2 million years ago to the present. The National Palace Museum’s displaying of the exhibit marks the start of the Asian leg of the tour.

A museum official says the exhibit aims to help viewers understand how human beings have shaped the world and been shaped by it.

It will run until March of next year.
