So, I recently came across another artist that caught my interest named Butterfly Boucher. While her name terrifies me (Yes, I used to have a slight fear of butterflies as a child… long story. Well, it’s short, but let’s just say butterflies aren’t as pretty and friendly as you would think.) Anyway, Butterfly Boucher is a pop-rock singer-songwriter hailing from Adelaide, Australia, who currently resides in the U.S. and Australia.

I like her sound because it’s not too heavy and it’s also not too poppy. There’s a fine balance between the two genres and you can bob your head to the music. She combines the indie-rock sounds of Tegan and Sara or Metric, and perhaps a little pop from the likes of Cyndi Lauper. These past few days when I need a little pick-me-up at the office I pop on some of her songs and get groovin’, and it helps with the writing. I particularly like her track “I Can’t Make Me” (featured above).

You can listen to The Evolution here on Noisetrade and download it!
