Charles Darwin's Notebooks Mysteriously Returned

Oh no! I can't find my notebook. Where is it?
我找不到我的筆記本。

I wrote down so many good ideas in that notebook!

I hope somebody finds it and returns it to me. Some of the ideas I wrote down
could change the world! Like Charles Darwin did!
我希望有人找到後可以還給我，裡面有很多的點子，可以像達爾文一樣改變世界！

Do you know who Charles Darwin is? Darwin was a very famous scientist who was
known for figuring out a lot of things about animals and other living things.
查爾斯‧達爾文是一個著名的科學家，對許多動植物有深入研究。

Even though he lived a long time ago, a lot of his ideas are still important
today.
他的很多想法到今天都還很重要。

He wrote down a lot of his ideas in notebooks. These notebooks were kept in a
library in England, until one day, they were stolen!
他的想法都寫在筆記本裡面，被保存在英國的圖書館，但是有一天被偷走了！

But guess what? Twenty-two years later, the notebooks were returned! Somebody
put them in a pink bag and left them outside the library's office.
二十二年之後，有人把筆記本放在一個粉紅色的袋子裡面，還給圖書館。

The books are now being kept at the library … in a much safer place, of
course, in case someone tries to steal them again.
筆記本現在被保存在圖書館裡面更安全的地方。

But it is still a mystery who took them, and who gave them back.
但是我們仍然不知道是誰拿走的，也不知道是誰還給他們的。

I guess we will never know!

New Marine Parks Protect Ocean

GASP! That was so fun! I love snorkeling!

Have you been snorkeling?
你會浮潛嗎？

Snorkeling is when you swim around on the surface of the ocean, and you look
at things under the water.
浮潛就是在海面上游泳，看海裡的景觀。

There are so many interesting things to see in the ocean! Such as fish,
turtles, jellyfish, coral, and sometimes even sharks!
海裡面有魚、海龜、水母、珊瑚，有時候還有鯊魚！

But the ocean is in trouble. There is too much pollution, and this is hurting
the oceans. It is hurting the sea animals too. We need to protect the ocean.
但是現在海洋有太多污染，會傷害海洋跟海洋生物。我們要保護海洋。

One way that Australia is protecting the ocean is by making two marine parks.
A marine park is a "sea park", so it is like a park in the ocean!
澳洲為了保護海洋，蓋了兩座海洋公園。

And these parks are very, very big. They are seven hundred and forty-four
thousand square kilometers large! Do you know how big that is? That is the
size of about twenty Taiwans!
它們有74萬4千平方公里，大概有20個台灣大！

These parks are protected. That means there are rules that help make sure the
water stays clean, and the animals stay safe.
海洋公園有規定保持海水乾淨，也保護動物的安全。

This is important, because if we don't protect the animals, one day they
might be gone forever.
如果我們不保護動物，牠們有一天會消失。

So remember to protect the environment, and keep garbage out of the oceans!

Free App Helps Cut Plastic Waste

Greenpeace Finds Plastics in Animal Poop

Nature is so beautiful. I love hiking through the mountains of Taiwan.

Ew! But it is not nice when I see garbage in nature.
在大自然中看到垃圾好噁心。

According to Greenpeace, who are a very large environmental organization, all
this plastic is ending up inside animals' bodies!
綠色和平組織說，有很多塑膠到最後進了動物身體裡！

Greenpeace knows this because they are finding microplastics in animal poop!
他們在動物的便便裡面找到微塑膠！

Microplastics are very, very, very tiny pieces of plastic. When experts from
Greenpeace studied some wild animals in Taiwan, they found a lot of
microplastics in their poop!

This means animals are eating the plastic, or they are eating other animals
that ate the plastic.
微塑膠是超級超級小的塑膠。動物吃掉塑膠後，便便裡面就會有微塑膠。

This is not healthy for the animals. Plastic in their bodies can cause all
sorts of health problems. It can even kill them!

Keeping Taiwan's Coastline Clean

The last time I was at this beach, it was covered in garbage! There was so
much garbage I couldn't even walk along the water.
上ㄧ次來海邊，有好多垃圾！這一次好多了。

There were glass bottles, old boxes, and a lot of plastic garbage. Those are
not things that should be on a beach.
上一次來這裡，有玻璃瓶、舊的箱子，還有很多塑膠垃圾。

Some experts say as much as 150,000 bags of garbage can be found on Taiwan's
coastlines every year.

That is about 650 tons worth of garbage. Do you know how much 650 tons
weighs? That's the weight of about 160 full grown Asian elephants!

That's why it is so important for people to volunteer to clean all the
garbage up! If we don't help keep our coastlines clean, we won't be able to
