Taipei Buses to go All Electric by 2030
Electric vehicles have become more and more popular in recent years.
They don't burn gasoline (汽油) or diesel (柴油), so they don't directly
produce any CO2 (二氧化碳).
In fact, many countries and local governments are banning the sale
of new gas or diesel vehicles in the future.
The Taiwan government is also getting in on the trend (趨勢).
This year they announced that all of the public buses on the island would be
electric by 2030!
So, to meet the goal, the Taipei government is adding even more electric
buses this year.
The city will increase (增加) the number of electric buses on the road from
336 to 400 by the end of the year.
However, there is a lot of work to do to prepare the roads for electric buses.
For example, electric buses need to charge their batteries (電池充電), so
many new charging stations (充電站) will need to be installed.
Besides being good for the environment, electric vehicles are also much
quieter.
Which means that in the future, there will be a lot less noise from traffic!

Scientists Study 'Immortal' Sea Creature
Do you want to live forever?
Well, there is a kind of jellyfish that may be able to live almost forever!
The word immortal means "to be able to live forever".
That's why this species (種類) of jellyfish is named the "immortal jellyfish!"
The secret (秘密) to the jellyfish being able to live almost forever is that
it can reverse its aging
After it becomes old enough to reproduce (繁殖), it can actually go back to
an immature state (不成熟的狀態).
It can change from being a child to an adult and then back again, nearly
forever!
That's why scientists have been studying this unusual creature.
So, a team of researchers (一組研究人員) at a university in Spain (西班牙)
made a record of all of the jellyfish's genes (基因).
Scientists think that the jellyfish may have a special ability (特殊能力) to
copy and fix its genes.
And once they understand the secrets of the immortal jellyfish, they hope
scientists will be able to use that data to help people live longer,
healthier lives.

Drinking Tea May Prevent Diabetes
People in Taiwan drink a lot of tea.
In fact, tea is one of the most popular drinks in the world, and it is the
second most popular drink next to water!
Well, if you like drinking tea, there's some good news for you.
Researchers have found that people who drink four cups of black (紅茶), green
(綠茶), or oolong tea (烏龍茶) can have a lower chance of developing diabetes
The researchers followed thousands of people for over 12 years to gather the
data.
Because these teas are high in antioxidants (抗氧化劑), scientists think it
might help reduce blood sugar (降低血糖) and provide other health benefits
But some health experts think there might also be a connection between people
who drink a lot of tea and living a healthy lifestyle
For example, people who drink a lot of tea may not drink many sugary drinks
And unfortunately, if you like to drink sweet tea drinks like boba tea
(珍珠奶茶), you won't get many health benefits.
That's because boba tea contains a lot of starches (澱粉) and sugar, which
makes it quite unhealthy.
So, if you want to reduce your chances of getting diabetes, follow the advice
of health experts and get lots of exercise, eat lots of fresh fruits and
vegetables, and drink plenty of tea!
