What One USA School Is Like for Kids from Taiwan

Lots of families from Taiwan go to live in the USA. The father or mother
works there. And their kids go to school there.
很多台灣家庭搬到美國生活。父母親在那邊工作，他們的小孩在那裡上學。

Arizona is a state in the USA. A Taiwanese company is building a big factory
there.

Many people from Taiwan work at the factory. Their children go to local
schools.

One school has one hundred new students from Taiwan. How is the school?

One student says the kids in her class are very friendly. She says her
teachers are nice.

school has two English teachers.

Judge Says Artist Can't Take the Money and Run

Hey, news fans! Two years ago we told you about an artist named Haaning.

Do you remember? 大家還記得藝術家 Haaning嗎?

You don't!? That's okay. Two years is a long time! Here, I'll help …

A museum asked Haaning to make art.

It wanted the art to show people's feelings about work.

Haaning是一位藝術家。博物館請他用畫來表達人對工作的想法。

People work to make money. So Haaning wanted money in his art.

He didn't want to use paint or pencils. He wanted to use real money!

人們工作是為了賺錢，所以Haaning想要把真的錢呈現在作品裡。

The museum lent Haaning money for his art. He got almost two and a half
million Taiwan dollars!

Haaning為了作品， 向博物館借了將近250萬台幣!

Then Haaning gave the museum his art. It showed... nothing! Where was the
money?!

Haaning寄了作品給博物館，但是……是空白的! 錢都到哪裡去了?

Haaning called his art "Take the Money and Run". That's what he did! He took
the money and ran!

Haaning把作品取名為「拿了錢就跑」，他還真的這麼做!

The museum put Haaning's art in a show. But it wanted its money back too.

This year, a judge said Haaning has to give the money back.

Haaning doesn't want to. He says taking the money was the art!

More Important Old Places Protected

People are amazing. We live all over the world, in hot jungles, snowy
mountains, and busy cities…
人類生活在世界各地，有的在熱帶叢林、下雪的高山和繁忙的城市。

It's easy to see where people lived. We always leave something there. In
Egypt, we left pyramids. In Europe, we left castles.
我們可以看出哪裡有人生活過，因為人類都會留下痕跡。埃及有金字塔，歐洲則是有城堡。

Here in Taiwan, people left many kinds of things: temples, forts, hiking
trails and more!
台灣也有留下廟宇、堡壘、登山步道等等。

Very old places are important. They tell us stories. They tell us how people
lived. We need to protect these places. Then people can see and enjoy them
many years from now.
古老遺產告訴我們前人如何生活，我們需要保護這些地方，讓人們在很多年後還可以欣賞它們。

UNESCO is a group. They help countries to protect important places. They help
over 1,000 places around the world! And now they're protecting more!

Town's Art Project to Finish in 3183

A small town has a big art project called the Time Pyramid.
一座小鎮有個很盛大的藝術計畫，它叫做時間金字塔。

Pyramids take a long time to make. In Egypt, the Great Pyramid took 20 years.
In Germany, the Time Pyramid is taking about 1,200 years!?
建金字塔要花很長的時間，埃及吉薩大金字塔花了20年，德國的時間金字塔居然要花1200年才能完成。

But this pyramid will be about 7 meters tall. That's small! Why is it taking
so much time?
這個金字塔只有7公尺高，那為什麼需要這麼長的時間呢?

It's because the pyramid marks the town's 1,200th birthday. And the artist
wanted people to think about time long from now - 10 years, 100 years, 1,000
years! So one block goes on this pyramid every 10 years.
這麼做是為了慶祝小鎮建立1200周年。藝術家希望人們可以思考遙遠的未來。每十年才會放一塊混擬土。

The project started 30 years ago. This year, the pyramid has 4 blocks. It
needs 116 more blocks!
這個計畫從30年前開始，今年時間金字塔擺放了4塊混擬土，離完工還需要116塊。

Some people like this long art project. Some think it's crazy. But every 10
years, people go to see one new block go on the Time Pyramid. Maybe they
think about time too.
