Robot Animals

Do you like animals? And how about robots? 你喜歡動物嗎? 那機器人呢？They're
pretty cool too, right?

Then I think you're going to love robot animals! 那你應該也會愛機器動物吧？！

Yeah! There are robots that look like animals! Some of them even act like
animals! And some even do very important jobs!
有的機器動物的動作，很像真的，有些還負責重要的工作！

Like the robot dolphin at one zoo. They can swim like real dolphins and
people can swim with them too.

People can have fun with dolphins without keeping them in a tank!
像動物園裡面的機器海豚，會陪人游泳，也可以跟牠們玩得很開心！

There are robot dogs and cats too! And in one care home, they are friends to
the people who live there! 還有機器狗跟機器貓，會陪住養老院的人。

In one park they have a robot sloth! The sloth has a camera to watch the
animals and the plants, and to check what's going on in the park.
另外在一座公園，有機器樹懶記錄園區裡面動物和植物的情形。

But what about in the sea? Well, there's also a robot squid.
而在大海裡面有機器烏賊喔！It takes photos of the animals and coral in the
sea. It's soft so it can't hurt anything and it even swims like a squid!
負責拍攝海裡的動物跟珊瑚，因為軟軟的，並不會傷害其他海洋生物，而且還游的像真的烏賊！

Isn't that cool? There are so many different robot animals doing interesting
things and even helping us!

Blink at Cats

Woah! What's that cat's problem?

Do you have a cat at home? 你有養貓嗎？

If you do, you probably already know that sometimes cats can be… well… a
little grumpy. 養貓的人知道，貓有時候脾氣很暴躁。

And other times, it can be hard to know what a cat is feeling.
有時候很難知道貓咪在想什麼。

Unlike with dogs, with dogs, it's much easier to see how they are feeling.
And it's easy to see they like you. 狗，就很容易了解牠在想什麼。

If you call a dog, it will probably come, and look happy, and wag their tail.

But if you call a cat… well… it might come, but it might not.
當你說"狗狗來"，牠可能會很高興地，搖著尾巴跑過來。可是貓咪牠就不一定會來。

Does the cat like me or not?

Cat experts have found out one interesting way to connect with cats. And to
let them know you like them and for them to show they like you. They used
blinking! 專家現在發現，可以用眨眼睛的方式，跟貓溝通！

The next time you look at a cat, blink slowly. Just close your eyes for a
second or two, then open them again. 下次試試看，跟貓慢慢的眨眼睛。

In return, the cat might even blink back at you too! 貓咪可能也會跟你眨眼。

That's pretty cool, right? So a slow blink is kind of like a cat smile. Try
it!

Three Hours to ISS

Did you know that people live in space? 你知道有人住在外太空嗎？

It's true!

People have lived in space for 20 years! …

These people live on the International Space Station or ISS.
太空站有太空人住，已經20年了。

It's a really big space station.

You can sometimes see the ISS from the earth. But the ISS is still very far
away.

You need a powerful rocket to push you up, up, up into space … and then you
need smaller rockets to get the spaceship to the space station.
國際太空站離地球非常遠，需要坐火箭才能到。

Usually, it takes one or two days for the spaceship to get to the
International Space Station 通常需要1到2天的時間， but in 2020, Russia set a
new record!

Now, a spaceship from Russia can reach the ISS in three hours!
現在俄羅斯打破這個紀錄，只要3小時就能到達！ That's super-fast!

Space scientists in Russia did a lot of math… they worked hard to find a way
to make the trip to the ISS faster.

And they did it! 俄羅斯的太空科學家做了很多數學運算，才找到更快抵達的方法。

Before, it took two or three days, but now people can get to the ISS in just
three hours!

Humans have been living in space for more than 20 years, but now they only
have to travel for three hours to get to the ISS！

Taiwan's Electric Trains

I'm going to Taitung tomorrow. I'm so excited!

Taitung is on the east side of Taiwan, we call that the "East Coast."
我好期待明天要去台東！它在台灣的「東海岸」。

I'm going to take a train from Kaohsiung to Taitung!

And guess what?

The train ride from Kaohsiung to Taitung takes less than 2 hours now!
現在從高雄搭火車到台東，不用兩個小時。

It's faster now because it uses electricity.

And now all of the trains in Taiwan use electricity!
台灣現在所有的火車都電氣化，也更快了。

The old trains used a kind of gasoline... like a car. They are slower and
there is pollution!

The new electric trains are quiet, faster and there is no pollution!
現在的火車改用電，比較安靜、比較快更快而且不會有污染！

There are about 1,100 kilometers of rail lines in Taiwan…

They make a big circle around us! 鐵路繞台灣一圈，大約有1100公里長，so it
took a long time, more than 20 years, to make all of Taiwan's rail lines
electric, but now it's finished. 花超過20年，把鐵路全都電氣化！

Taking an electric train is faster and quieter and there's no pollution.

And, I can get to Taitung tomorrow in just under 2 hours! That's really fast!

The east coast of Taiwan is really beautiful!

Looking out of the train window, I'm going to see mountains and then... the
ocean!

I can't wait to take the electric train to Taitung!

A Mystery Metal Object

Hey, students!

Today we have a very strange story. It starts strange and then gets even
stranger.

It happened in a desert in America. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere!
That means 故事發生在美國的一個沙漠。

Anyway, one day people in a helicopter saw something shiny in the desert.
有一天，一個人從直升機上，看見沙漠裡有亮亮的東西。

When they went to see what it was, they found a huge metal… thing! Actually,
nobody really knows what it is... It's shiny and has three sides… and it's
big too! It's about 3 and a half meters tall.
是一個很大、亮亮的金屬，有三個面，大約3.5公尺高。

That's about the height of one adult... standing on top of another adult!

Nobody knows what it is or where it came from… Who put it there? How did
they put it there? And why did they put it there? It's so strange!
沒人知道那是什麼, 沒有人知道它從哪裡來、為什麼放在這裡、是誰放的？

Some people think the giant, mystery metal object is a piece of art. And some
people think it could be a prop leftover from a movie. Others think it might
have been put there by aliens!

And then, just 9 days after the metal thing was found… it just...
disappeared! It's gone! 9天後，它居然不見了！

Huh? Where did it go? I guess that's just one more question in this super
