Zhongli Goat Runs Free on Streets
A goat ran this way and that way on the streets of Taoyuan!
It all began at the oldest temple in Zhongli. Renhai Temple was two hundred
years old! There was lots of music! There were many dancers from Taiwan and
Japan!
The temple also had a contest. It wanted to find the best goat in Zhongli!
But that night, the winning goat ran away! It ran fast! It ran on the right
side of the street! Then it ran on the left side of the street! It ran across
other streets. It ran in front of cars!
The roads were dark. It was hard for drivers to see the goat! They had to
turn fast! They did not want to hit it! Luckily, no one was hurt!
The goat's owner looked for the goat. It took forty minutes to catch it. But
the goat did not want to go home. It wanted to keep running free!
Renhai Temple's winning goat is home with its owner. And drivers in Taoyuan
are safe from the goat... for now.

Taiwanese tourists love to travel during the Lunar New Year
Did you travel outside of Taiwan during the Lunar New Year?
If you did, you're not alone.
It turns out, Taiwanese people really love to travel to other countries
during the holiday.
The government says that Taoyuan International Airport had almost 170,000
passengers on the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday.
That's a new record for that time period.
But many people also traveled around Taiwan during the holiday.
Last year, the average number of visitors every day to Taiwan's national
scenic areas, theme parks, and other tourist sites was 350,000.
But this year it was more than 730,000!
The day that most people visited the national scenic areas was on the third
day of the Lunar New Year (初三)- that was February 19th.
843,096 people visited scenic areas around the country on that day.
When you say "scenic areas," what do you mean by that?
Well, some of the popular places to go were Alishan, the north coast, and Sun
Moon Lake.
Many people also went to the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan area.
It seems like many travelers wanted to hike, visit the coast (海岸), or take
a trip to Taiwan's many old streets.
In general, some of the most popular places to visit across Taiwan include-
of course- Sun Moon Lake and Alishan, as well as Taipingshan, Taroko Gorge,
and Yushan.

Not Scary Company helps young people return to normal life
Have you ever heard the word "isolation (隔絕)?"
It's a word that's being used a lot to talk about young people in Korea.
The word "isolate" means to be alone or apart.
In Korea, there's a big problem where young people are isolating themselves.
There's one man named Lee Myung-san.
He says he was 27 when he started spending a lot of time inside and not
really going out.
He said that it made him too anxious to try to apply for jobs.
Lee had a previous injury (受傷) at work that never got better.
He struggled with mental health problems (心理健康問題) during that time.
But one day he found out about an organization (組織) called Not Scary
Company.
One of Lee's friends suggested that they go to a meeting together.
Lee says that Not Scary Company is a group that says people like him are
"masters of isolation" (隔絕大師).
The organization wanted to turn their experiences into a form of
qualification, instead of a stigma.
Not Scary Company
People participate in Not Scary Company's Masters of Isolation program.
It helps train young people with experience living in isolation to support
others and their families.
It's part of a trend (趨勢) in Korea; the government thinks there are over
530,000 young isolated people.
Experts say these young people might spend a lot of time in what they call a
"trash room."
Maybe their rooms are very messy but they still stay in there for a very long
time and don't want to come outside.
Not Scary Company gets support from public and private support programs as
well as Kakao, which is like the Korean version of Line.
The organization runs a shared living community called Not Scary House.
Up to 10 people can live there at a time while they get help and rebuild
their lives.
While they do that, they have to do things like wake up on time, take
showers, get dressed, and talk about how they feel with others.
Lunch is prepared together, and people share work like laundry, cleaning, and
shopping.
待在Not Scary
You might think it's strange that people need help doing simple things like
showering or getting dressed.
But it can be hard for people with mental health problems to do these things
sometimes.
Not Scary House also helps people to gain social skills by meeting together
to talk about their past experiences.
After the company helps to get people back into normal routines, they help
people find new jobs.
But to live in Not Scary House, people have to agree to live there for at
least a year.
The company says, that's because if they don't have enough time, they might
go back to being isolated.
Usually, they say, after they live there for a year and meet new people, many
residents make small groups to live with together after they move out.
Korean officials say that isolation is not an individual problem, it's a
challenge that society has to handle together.
And they say, isolation is something that can happen to anyone.
That means, it's important to be patient and "wait for those whose legs have
given out to stand again."

So, in today's News Bites:
Taiwanese people traveled a lot during the Lunar New Year Holiday.
Taiwan's national scenic areas had so many visitors during that time.
People visited Alishan and Sun Moon Lake a lot.
________________________________
And,
A Korean company is trying to help young lonely people to get back into
society.
They provide support to people who have experienced isolation by helping them
form new connections and build healthy lifestyles.

In today's News Flash, our word of the day is "support."
That's both a noun and a verb, and it's spelled S-U-P-P-O-R-T.
As a noun it is like the word "help."
For example, in the news story we discussed how Not Scary Company gives
support to young people experiencing isolation.
But as a verb, it would be more like 支持.
And now you know!
