Young Amis People Keep the Amis Ways Alive

 

In Guangfu Township in Hualien, there is a very old village. It's Taibalang Tribal Village. People of the Amis tribe live there.
花蓮光復的太巴塱（ㄌㄤˇ）部落中住著許多阿美族人。

The village is next to two rivers. They are full of crabs!
部落旁有兩條河，河中很多螃蟹。

Taiwan and Korea Team Up Against Disasters

Taiwan is a beautiful island, but it also faces many natural disasters
(天然災害).

In summer, there are typhoons (颱風) with strong wind and heavy rain.

Because of the mountains, there are sometimes landslides and floods
(土石流或淹水).

And of course, earthquakes can happen at any time.

That's why Taiwan needs to work with other countries to learn better ways to
stay safe.

Taiwan and South Korea are working together to fight natural disasters.

Last month, Taiwan's National Science and Technology Center for Disaster
Reduction (國家災害防救科技中心) signed an agreement with South Korea's
National Disaster Management Research Institute (韓國國家災害管理研究院).

The goal is to share ideas, technology, and training on how to stay safe
during big disasters.

Why are they working together?

Taiwan and South Korea have many things in common.

Both countries have mountains, heavy rain, and sometimes dangerous slope
problems, like landslides.

Because of this, they also face similar risks (風險) when it comes to natural
disasters.

The new agreement says both sides will focus on studying heavy rainfall,
slope disasters, and other new dangers that may appear.
新的協議表示，雙方會專注在研究強降雨、山坡地災害，還有其他潛在的危險。

They will also learn from each other by creating training courses, joining
seminars (研討會), and visiting each other's research centers.

This will help them grow more experts and improve their disaster research.

The South Korean side said they want this teamwork to set a good example for
other countries.

They also want to join big conferences (大型國際會議) together and show the
world better ways to prepare for disasters.

Another important part is data sharing.

With faster data exchange, early warning systems can give people more time to
get ready.
有了更快的資料交換，預警系統就能更早提醒大家準備。

Both sides will also work on tools to help leaders make smart choices during
emergencies.

In short (簡單來說), Taiwan and South Korea are not just neighbors in Asia.

They are becoming partners to make their people safer.

By working together, they hope to be stronger and more ready the next time
nature brings a big challenge.

天王星有個新的小小月亮
A Tiny New Moon for Uranus

A moon is a natural object that goes around a planet.

Our Earth has one big moon.

But other planets, like Jupiter and Saturn (木星和土星), have many moons of
different sizes.

Astronomers (天文學家) have discovered a brand-new moon around the planet
Uranus.

The discovery was made in February this year using NASA's James Webb Space
Telescope (美國太空總署的韋伯太空望遠鏡).

The small moon is called S/2025 U1 for now.

It is only about 10 kilometers wide (大約 10 公里寬).

That's much smaller than most other moons.

Because it is so tiny and faint, even NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft missed it
when it flew past Uranus almost 40 years ago.
因為它太小太暗淡，連太空總署的旅行者二號太空船40
年前飛過天王星時也沒有看到它。

This makes the new moon the 29th known moon (已知月亮) of Uranus.

Uranus has many small moons inside its ring system, and scientists say this
makes it very unique.
天王星外面圍繞著十幾個環，裡面有很多很小的月亮，科學家說這讓天王星非常特別。

The new moon orbits (環繞) about 56,000 kilometers from the center of Uranus,
between two other moons named Ophelia and Bianca.

All of Uranus' moons are named after characters from Shakespeare or Alexander
Pope, but this new one does not have an official name yet.
天王星所有的月亮都是用莎士比亞或是蒲柏作品中的角色命名，但這顆新月亮還沒有正式名字。

Scientists are excited because finding such a small moon shows how powerful
the Webb Telescope is.

Its infrared camera (紅外線相機) can see very faint and distant objects that
older telescopes could not.

The discovery also helps researchers learn more about Uranus' history, rings,
and moon system.

Experts believe there may be even more tiny moons around Uranus that we have
not found yet.

Each new discovery adds another piece to the puzzle of how this mysterious
planet formed and changed over time.
